A DIET THAT WORKS?

 

There are a lot of diets on the market but experts agree that there are no quick-fix solutions to weight loss.  To slim down and shape up, we need to follow a healthy plan for life.

 

Any weight loss plan will work to some extent if you stick to the rules.  We lose weight when we consume fewer calories than we burn.  But losing weight is the easy part, keeping it off is the hard part.  So you might get a boost to your weight loss on a certain diet but without long term changes you will regain the weight you lost (and can even gain more weight!).

 

A recent study at Yale University reviewed the research on dietary patterns and found that there was no clear winner where diets were concerned.  However, the evidence was consistent that a diet based mainly on natural, unprocessed foods is best for everyone.  People with the healthiest diets do not ‘diet’! They enjoy their food and don’t have forbidden foods.  The perfect diet is one that works for you personally.

 

A ‘DIET’ THAT WORKS

 

BALANCE IS KEY – avoid extremes, include all major food groups.

 

CALORIE CONTROL AND REDUCTION – whatever your method you will need to eat less calories than you burn to lose weight.  One of the most effective and easiest ways to achieve this is by reducing PORTION SIZES.

 

FOCUS ON REDUCING sugar, salt, fat and alcohol

 

FOCUS ON INCREASING water, vegetables and fibre.

 

HOMECOOKING is best, REAL FOOD is best.
